A brand new TV show called Ultimate Wedding Planner, launched on BBC Two in August 2023. To promote the programme, our client sought to gain press interviews with Raj Somaiya.
Our team were tasked with gaining coverage on sites such as Mail Online, The Sun, The Mirror and Daily Express. We needed to create a news story around the show’s themes of love, creativity and inclusivity. It’s a feel good, wholesome show which needed to be reflected in coverage.
The target audience was female millennials, people getting married/ planning a wedding, reality entertainment fans, with the aim to drive viewership of the programme.
Once the brief had been received, a group of news, lifestyle, and media experts from the 72Point team met to discuss how our services could meet the client’s KPIs. The result of this session was three survey-based news stories with weddings as the sole focus.
The team made sure each of the ideas stood a good chance of landing on the client’s coverage wish list while ensuring the tone of voice remained positive and generating strong talking points for the potential readership.

The final idea chosen by the client was ‘The Perfect Wedding’. The angle meant polling Brits who have attended a wedding and asking them to divulge their opinions on what makes the perfect wedding. It’s an angle that is tied into all the show’s themes and key points. Such as the location, the band, the number of guests and food options – all considerations the wedding planners will have to think about on their journeys.
