To celebrate the upcoming release of S5 of The Crown, we teamed up with ‘90s legend and crafting queen Anthea Turner, to recreate her infamous Tracy Island model build featured on Blue Peter …but this time she’s making royal residence Buckingham Palace.
As Netflix’s The Crown season 5 enters the 1990s, PLAY was tasked to create a nostalgia-soaked creative which captures the era and nods to the series.
There was only one person we wanted to call. Blue Peter alumni and crafting legend, Anthea Turner.
We commissioned her to build a model of Buckingham Palace. Inspired by Turner’s 1993 Thunderbirds ‘Tracey Island’ build, which acted as a cultural earthquake in the nation’s playgrounds at the time, the ‘how to’ video was designed with media and social channels in mind.
Scripted, filmed and produced by PLAY, the content was shared across Netflix UK’s social media channels, and published in many tabloids, Turner’s Instagram, and Netflix’s own channels.
